| To determine the extent to which services provided
for the treatment of patients with tuberculosis in
Hong Kong are matched to need, in terms of type of
care received by different categories of patients,
and the referral pattern between service components;
to determine the resource use by different ctaegories
of patients, and examine the efficiency of service
provision; to develop a case-mix classification system
applicable to out-patients and in-patients; to determine
the pattern and type of care provided to a representative
sample of patients; to allocate patients in the sample
to case-mix categories for the duration of the treatment
programme; to analyse the process and outcome of care
provided to patients in different case-mix categories
(including examination of the interface between and
within primary and secondary care sites); to provide
basic information which can be used to facilitate the
development of a clinical information sytem and universal
medical record with the aim of improving communication
and coordination betwen care sites; to provide relevant
information for the planning of service development
at a strategic level. |

breast milk concentrations of dioxin like compounds
(international toxic equivalents) in a representative
sample of primaparous nursing mothers recruited in
several districts of the SAR. (b) The analyses will
be supported by information on past geographical place
of residence, usual dietary preferences and intake
and other lifestyle factors. (c) Comparison will be
made with comparable data from the Asia Pacific region
and other data from both the east and west, industrialised
and rural areas. (d) An estimate will be made of the
contribution which is made to total dioxin intake in
the first year of life for an average breast fed infant
in Hong Kong. |
