Collaborative Interdisciplinary Research at HKU
The University of Hong Kong has a strong foundation of internationally renowned researchers and high level facilities, with research spanning all major disciplines across our faculties, departments, research centres and institutes.
To maximise our research impact, we focus development on key areas of proven and potential strength in issues critical to the advancement of Hong Kong, China and the rest of the world.
In 2008, HKU identified 5 strategic research areas comprising 19 strategic research themes for support in the coming three years. The excellent work done in some of these areas and themes has been recognized, as shown in the respective webpages on Areas of Excellence and State Key Laboratories.
