Abstract:
To enhance the current IDEAL 3.0 Naïve Bayes classification engine with incremental learning function to make it adaptive to the changing environment; to implement an unsupervised text classification based on the new clustering algorithm, Variable Weighting k-prototypes algorithm recently developed by ETI and Math department of HKU (pending for patent application); to develop an ITF proposal in the area of e-learning and knowledge management.

Abstract:
To develop a grid computing infrastructure and platform to support e-learning and new algorithm development; to develop new data mining algorithms and methods or online student study behaviour analysis; to develop new algorithms and methods for personalized recommendation of study methods and materials based on case-based reasoning and data mining technologies; to develop algorithms and methodologies for measuring online study progress based on different metrics; to develop a prototype system (search engine) for online student interaction with the Q/A knowledge base, using web services and Semantic Web.
